Dress to Feel Comfortable and Confident
Walking into a swingers club for the first time, it's completely normal to wonder whether you'll be dressed appropriately. Almost everyone worries about standing out or getting it wrong.
The good news is that there isn't one "correct" outfit. Every club has its own atmosphere, and every guest has their own style. Some people arrive in smart evening wear, while others prefer something more relaxed. Later in the evening, many guests choose to change into lingerie, underwear or robes, but there's never any obligation to do so.
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in what you're wearing. If you're constantly adjusting your outfit or worrying about how you look, it's much harder to relax and enjoy the evening.
Before you visit, check the club's website for its dress code. If you're still deciding where to go, our How to Choose the Right Lifestyle Club guide explains how dress codes and atmospheres vary between different venues. Some venues have themed nights or specific requirements, while others just ask guests to dress smartly. If you're unsure, it's usually better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed.
Remember, your outfit isn't about impressing everyone else. It's about helping you feel like the best version of yourself.

Smart Casual or Dress to Impress?
Every Club is Different
Most lifestyle clubs encourage guests to make an effort, but that doesn't mean you need to wear a tuxedo or an evening gown. Think of it as dressing for a stylish night out rather than a visit to your local pub.
Most people go for smart casual. Think a good shirt or polo with dark jeans or chinos for men, and a dress, jumpsuit, or a great top with tailored trousers for women. It's less about ticking a dress code box and more about looking like you've actually made an effort.
As the night progresses, you'll notice that people become more relaxed generally, with the atmosphere growing looser rather than more formal. If you know you'll want to change later, it's worth bringing whatever you plan to wear in a small bag, since most clubs have somewhere to store your original outfit while you switch.
If this is your first visit, our Your First Lifestyle Club guide explains what the evening typically looks like from the moment you arrive.
Make an Effort, Not a Statement
Don't feel you need to buy a whole new wardrobe before your first visit. Most people already have something that works. Choose clothes that fit well, suit your personality and make you feel attractive. Confidence will always stand out more than whatever's trending.
If you're ever unsure, remember that it's much easier to remove a jacket or change later in the evening than it is to arrive feeling underdressed.
What Women Typically Wear
One of the biggest surprises for many first-time visitors is how varied the outfits are. There isn't a single "lifestyle look", and nobody expects you to dress like everyone else.
If you're looking for ideas, we've also put together our picks for Party & Eveningwear and Lingerie.
Arriving at the Club
Many women arrive in a nice dress, a skirt and top, tailored trousers with a great top, or a jumpsuit. Whatever you'd wear to a good cocktail bar is usually a solid starting point.
Later in the Evening
Later in the evening, some women choose to change into lingerie, bodysuits, robes or other outfits that make them feel attractive and confident. Others stay in their original clothes all night. Both are perfectly normal, and there is never any expectation that you have to change.
Wear something that makes you feel like yourself. If you're trying an outfit that feels completely out of character, you'll probably spend the evening thinking about what you're wearing instead of enjoying the experience.
It's worth resisting the urge to change outfits several times through the night. Ducking back to the changing rooms to switch outfits, redo your makeup or fix your hair can end up taking over more of the evening than the change itself is worth, and the urge to keep changing is often more about insecurity than genuinely wanting to try something new. Choosing fewer changes usually makes for a more relaxed night.
Ultimately, sexy is the person, not the outfit. A woman who feels entirely herself can walk in wearing almost anything and still be the most compelling person in the room. Clothes are there to add to that, not create it from scratch.
Comfort Matters
Comfort matters too. If you'll be walking, dancing or spending several hours at the club, choose shoes you can actually wear. Looking elegant is important, but being able to relax and enjoy the evening is even more so.
What Men Typically Wear
A Smart Outfit Goes a Long Way
For most men, choosing an outfit is much simpler than they expect. A good shirt or polo, paired with quality jeans or chinos, works for most clubs.
Avoid treating it like a casual night at the pub. Worn trainers, sportswear, football shirts, hoodies and scruffy clothing are unlikely to meet the dress code and can leave you feeling out of place, even if they're technically allowed.
Keep it Simple
A well-fitted outfit will always look better than an expensive one. Clean shoes, a good belt and clothes that actually fit make far more difference than chasing whatever's trending.
As the evening becomes more relaxed, some men choose to change into boxer briefs, trunks, robes or other clubwear if they decide to use the more intimate areas. Others just remain in their original outfit until they're ready to head home. There is no expectation that you need to change if you don't want to.
Dressing as a Couple
If you're visiting with a partner, it's worth thinking about your outfits together. You don't need to match, but dressing to a similar level of formality helps you both feel comfortable and confident as a couple.
Looking Good Starts with Feeling Fresh
It's About More Than Clothes
What you wear is only part of the picture. Good personal hygiene is far more important than owning the perfect outfit.
Shower before you leave, brush your teeth, use deodorant, wear clean clothes and pay attention to the little details. Good personal hygiene is remembered long after someone has forgotten what you were wearing.
A light fragrance can be a nice finishing touch, but avoid overdoing it. In busy clubs, strong aftershave or perfume can quickly become overwhelming.
Swingers clubs are social spaces where people spend time talking, dancing and getting close to one another. Looking after the basics shows respect for yourself, your partner and everyone you meet.
Theme Nights
Should You Choose One for Your First Visit?
Many clubs hold regular theme nights, ranging from elegant black tie evenings to lingerie parties, fancy dress events or specific colour themes. They can be a great way to break the ice and add a different atmosphere to the evening.
If you're visiting for the first time, don't feel that you have to choose a themed event. A regular club night is often a more relaxed introduction, as everyone is just there to enjoy the evening.
If you do decide to attend a themed night, check the club's website in advance. Some themes are optional, while others have a stricter dress code. Many destination clubs, such as Fun4Two in the Netherlands, also publish their monthly themes well in advance, making it easy to plan your trip around an event that appeals to you. Remember that the aim is to join in and have fun, not to create the perfect costume. Most people appreciate the effort far more than the budget.
Check the Dress Code First
If you're unsure, contact the club before your visit. They'll be happy to explain what's expected and can often give advice about what previous guests have worn.
Me Time You Time Tip
If it's your very first visit, consider choosing a standard club night rather than a themed event. It removes one more thing to think about and lets you experience the club in its usual atmosphere.
What Not to Wear
Most clubs aren't looking for designer labels or expensive outfits. They just want guests to look clean, presentable and ready for a smart evening out.
Avoid Very Casual Clothing
Very casual clothing such as football shirts, gym wear, dirty trainers or worn-out jeans are rarely a good choice, even if there isn't a strict dress code. Looking like you've made an effort shows respect for the club, the staff and the other guests.
Don't Wear Something That Isn't You
If you're planning to change later in the evening, remember that less isn't always more. Choose outfits that make you feel confident rather than self-conscious. If you're constantly adjusting your clothing or worrying about how you look, it's probably not the right choice.
It's also worth thinking about practicality. If you're wearing very high heels, can you comfortably walk around the club? If your outfit is difficult to take on and off, will it become frustrating later in the evening?
The best outfit is one that allows you to stop thinking about what you're wearing. Once you feel comfortable, you'll naturally relax, enjoy the atmosphere and focus on the people around you instead.
"Dress for yourself first. Confidence is always more attractive than perfection."
Our Advice
If you're ever unsure, think of it like getting ready for a night out where you want to feel your best. Dress well, be yourself, and choose clothes that make you feel comfortable rather than trying to impress everyone else.
Confidence, kindness and a genuine smile will always be remembered long after anyone has forgotten what you were wearing.
